Expired: BNI Girls Academy hosts #SHEHOOPS 2017

Ulster University Jordanstown Campus is preparing to welcome 10 teams to the BNI Girls Academy Annual #SHEHOOPS tournament for U13 and U14 girls. The tournament is designed to provide representative opportunities available to young girls at regional level. This year the tournament has attracted the Scottish National squad who will provide two teams for the U14 tournament to be contested also by Dublin, Cork and of course BNI. The BNI team will be coached by Barney Ball and Maire Thompson.

The Welsh National team feature in the u13 tournament where they will face off against, two Dublin Ladies Board teams and two BNI teams. The BNI Sparks will be coached by Clare Callaghan Hegarty and the BNI Liberty by Scotties Summersgill.

Two representatives from each team will also be given the opportunity to compete in a fundamentals skills challenge designed by Ireland U16 women’s national team coach Andy Gill performance director for the BNI Girls Academy. This development goes further to reiterate the importance of skill development work in youth basketball.

BNI Girls Academy would like to thank Ulster University for the use of their facilities and Mount Charles catering for providing lunch vouchers for all the volunteers. We would also like to thank the coaches, referees and table officials who will all give their time voluntary over the weekend to make this event happen for the girls. We would also welcome all of the basketball community to drop in and support the BNI teams as they take on some really top class opposition.
